At All Paw’d Up the pricing structure is all inclusive. This means that I assess the needs of each dog and perform the applicable services using high end products.
These estimates are based on the amount of time a full groom normally takes on a dog of a particular size coming in for grooming on a pre-set, monthly (4-6 week) schedule, and getting a simple, one length all over, pet style trim with an average amount of hand scissor work. Longer styles requiring more extensive scissor work, dogs not coming in on a monthly maintenance schedule, matting, dogs in full coat styles or requiring excessive undercoat removal, lack of grooming table manners, etc. all increase the amount of time it takes to complete a groom, and therefore increase the cost.
I try to complete each groom as quickly as possible while still maintaining the absolute highest quality and safety standards. I prefer to work one-on-one and allow dogs the opportunity to take breaks during their appointments if needed, however I ONLY charge for the time your dog is actively being worked on. If your dog is stressed, we will sit on the floor and play or go for a walk then come back to proceed. I never want a dog to have fear of coming to see me.
I’m often asked the question, "do you brush teeth and express anal glands?"
The short answer is, no I do not.
Let’s explain why I do not offer these services.
In order for teeth brushing to be of any value to your pet it would need to be done at minimum once every other day. Having your pet's teeth brushed at their grooming appointment once every 4-8+ weeks is of virtually no benefit to your pets oral health and for this reason I feel it is unfair to charge for this service. I offer a breath freshening spray that can help stinky breath for a short time after their appointment and I’m happy to discuss products and techniques to help you get started brushing your pet's teeth daily at home.
After discussion with multiple Veterinarians, I’ve determined that expression of anal glands is something that needs to be done under veterinary supervision using internal methods. Expressing them externally in a grooming salon requires significantly more pressure on already fragile glands and could lead to infection and even rupture. Therefore, this is not a service I’m comfortable with performing due to the potential risk to our canine clients health.
Pricing is based on a 4 to 6 week grooming schedule. Clients that do not adhere to a routine schedule are subject to additional charges for additional maintenance.
